Now We’re Talking: Podcast at New Educator Weekend

Drop by, say hi and take in the pro tips at our podcast at the NEW conference

Nationally known educator and activist Nicholas Ferroni is the keynote speaker at the New Educator Weekend (NEW) conference on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Santa Clara Marriott. He’s also a featured guest on the “Inspiring Teachers” podcast, recording live at NEW from 10 a.m.-12:45 p.m. that same day. (Ferroni will be on the podcast at approximately 10:45.)

In addition to Ferroni, podcast hosts and CTA members Danny Hauger and Tavis Beem (@ShowTeachers) will interview a number of NEW presenters, teachers and education experts. Guests include CTA President E. Toby Boyd, who will address NEW attendees on Sunday.

You’ll find Hauger and Beem set up in the exhibitors’ area of the conference. Their program promises to be entertaining and informative, so drop by, say hi, and take in the pro tips. The duo will edit the podcast into shorter chunks, which we’ll post soon after the conference.

At CTA’s Good Teaching Conference earlier this month, Hauger and Beem recorded a live podcast, with guests including CTA members Alyson Hoberecht on mindfulness in the classroom and Kristan Morales on encouraging students’ “Shark Tank Inventions.” You can listen to the program here and here.

“Inspiring Teachers” is a weekly podcast that explores the “why” of teaching. Past guests have included Michelle Ferre, teacher and vlogger at “Pocketful of Primary”; Melba Beals, educator and member of the Little Rock 9; Dave Burgess, bestselling author of Teach Like a Pirate; and educator Tamara Letter, author of A Passion for Kindness. In addition to hosting their podcast, Hauger, Liberty Education Association, teaches high school history and social studies; Tavis Beem, Mt. Diablo Education Association, teaches woodshop at Sequoia Middle School. Before he became an educator Hauger worked as a broadcaster and is author of A Broadcaster’s Secret to Teaching.
